A few weeks ago I got an email from an old friend, Charlie Harmony.
A man who's web series, Golden Boy, I helped work on a couple episodes as on set production sound. That's where we met, and I even interviewed him on my podcast. You can get an in-depth look at Charlie Harmony here.
Charlie had sent me a small page and a half script. It was short, simple and sweet. Two characters, one location, just a conversation. Simple enough, so I agreed to do it.
Well of course things happen. We had a series of setbacks, from equipment rentals, to an extremely windy set. But we were determined to get this short done.
For this film, I was the director and the cinematographer. I shot the short film on the Panasonic GH5 with a Metabones Speedbooster XL. However, I give credit to the film's crisp image to the incredible lenses it was shot on. Two Zeiss Planar primes, an 85mm and a 50mm. The footage was shot in Ultra 4k in V-Log.
In post, the 4k footage was downscaled to 1080p, squeezing the pixels closer to each other to create a crisp and clean image. Other products use for create this film, iZotope's RX for cleaning dialog and Neutron for mixing dialog, ambience and music together.
